What is Microneedling/ DermaPen?
Microneedling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy) is a treatment that uses tiny medical grade needles to micropuncture the skin's surface creating a channel for skincare products to deeply penetrate into the dermis layer of the skin increasing collagen production which reduces fine lines, expression lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, acne scars, hyperpigmentation that comes with melasma and also reverses sun damage.
Collagen is a structural protein that acts like scaffolding, providing strength to your body by holding it together, it is found in your bones, muscles, tendons and skin. Collagen gives skin the elasticity but aging decreases the amount of collagen resulting in wrinkles and other visible signs of aging. Skin can also lose collagen with the effects from acne, injuries and other scarring.
Microneedling uses the skin’s natural healing mechanism to repair itself once it has sustained an injury such as cuts, burns and other abrasions. The microneedle creates a ‘micro-injury’, that triggers the skin to respond and activate the repair process, which stimulates collagen production to maintain youthful, plump skin. The result is similar to fractional laser treatments and some chemical peels but without the downtime and fewer side effects.
What results will I expect to achieve?
Microneedling is safe for all skin tones and all types of skin. Clients have experienced various results including smoother, brighter, firmer, and even toned skin. Once the desired result has been achieved, it is important to maintain collagen stimulation by returning for regular maintenance treatments.

Microneedling procedure
The Microneedling procedure is generally completed within 30- 35 minutes depending on area of treatment, followed by a Collagen Cooling Mask treatment for 20 minutes. Some clients may require other treatments before Microneedling can commence. Micro Needling is performed in a safe and precise manner with the use of a sterile, medical grade, disposable tip that allows effective treatment to hard-to-reach places (e.g. around the eyes, nose, and lips). Healing gels and serums suitable for skin type are applied throughout the process. Once the course is complete the new healthy skin will appear around 4 weeks post- treatment and continually generate collagen for up to 4-6 months.

I have seen the Dermaroller being used all over the internet, what is the difference between the roller and the DermaPen/ Microneedling?
I am trained in both procedures, Dermapen goes deeper, less painful and targets hard to reach areas BUT the roller is useful for areas such for larger areas of the body such as stretch marks and scarring.
