Terms and Conditions

 
 

The booking contract is negotiated between ‘Paula Durance’ the makeup artist and the ‘Client’. Any booking and/or services undertaken shall be subject to these Terms and Conditions unless otherwise agreed in writing between all concerned parties.  


Bridal Trial 

Bridal trials are completed between Mondays and Thursdays during business hours (10am to 5pm) to allow Paula to run her Bridal makeup business on her busiest days – Friday, Saturdays and Sundays.

Weekend trials can be arranged, to fit around current bridal bookings, although this cannot always be guaranteed. On occasion, any weekend trial bookings may be subject to change, with every effort being made to offer another suitable time.

Bridal Trials last around 2 hours, once completed Paula will take photographs and complete a face chart with products/ techniques to ensure your makeup is camera friendly ready for your wedding day. These are for Paula’s reference only. 

The fee for a trial session is £75 (make up artist address) or £100 for a weekend trial (make up artist address) if booked separately from a bridal package whereby the trial fee is reduced to £60. Fees are payable in advance of the agreed date via BACS only please REF: your full name.

Card payments and Paypal are NOT accepted, payment is to be made by a Bank Transfer. Trial will not commence without payment upfront. If you wish to make a booking for a Bridal Package, the trial will be shown as a separate item on your invoice and a 50% Booking Fee of the remaining bridal package fee will be required. If a trial has taken place and paid for, this will be shown on your invoice.

For example: If you have paid for a trial at the cost of £60 (bridal package price) and wish to book an Asian/ Ethnic Traditional Bridal Package which costs £230 your invoice will look as follows:

  • Make up Trial Paid £60

  • Asian/ Ethnic Bridal Package remaining booking fee £170 of which 50% is to be paid as per T&C’s to secure the booking of £85.

  • Followed by £85 to be paid 2 weeks prior to the agreed booking for the service on the date of the event. In total the package cost is £230 as per price list.

Alternatively if you know you would like to book Paula WITHOUT A TRIAL then your invoice for an Asian/ Ethnic Package would state as follows:

  • Asian/ Ethnic Package 50% booking fee of £100 to be paid as per T&C’s to secure the booking.

  • Followed by £100 to be paid 2 weeks prior to the agreed booking for the service on the date of the event. In total the package cost is £200.

    CLIENTS WHO DO NOT BOOK A TRIAL WILL NOT BENEFIT FROM THE BRIDAL PACKAGE SKIN CARE DISCOUNTS.

Or if you wish to have a trial only the cost will be £75 (see full details for exceptions above), a skin consultation will be included.

If additional services are required or an extensive amount of admin time is required this will be charged accordingly.

All Trials will take place at Paula Durance’s address. Trial fees paid will incur a booking fee if you wish to no longer continue with the service, the trial is non transferable, however any costs can be offset to purchase other services or products, cancellation charges still apply. Prices above are for example purposes, please see full price lists and T&Cs on the website.

 Your Wedding day 

Bridal bookings over 10 mile radius from LE3 are also capped with a minimum booking of three people.  A booking for less than three can be arranged but additional fee may be charged. Please liaise with Paula about this option when going through the booking arrangements.

Where possible, Paula requests a well lit safe area or room, free from distractions. This ensures makeup applications are executed perfectly within the designated time without any disruptions. Access to a clean water supply is required. Health and Safety is paramount for Paula and her clients.

Paula provides a touch up kit for brides only. Additional kits can be provided at a discounted rate of £5 each within the Wedding Party. 

Booking Fee

To secure a booking, a booking fee of 50% of the overall fee is required within 3 days (72 hours) once Paula has confirmed the availability of the date you would like. If no payment is received from you after a 72 hour waiting period, it will be assumed you no longer wish to proceed with your booking, and the date can then be released.

The Booking Fee is non transferable and must be used for the time, date, venue and person specified on the invoice as well as for the complete service agreed. Please bear in mind that if you decide to have a trial first without paying a booking fee for the event, the date of the event will not be saved or confirmed until the booking fee is secured.

The Booking Fee will be charged but can be offset for another product once clients take up and agree the service outlined on the invoice, offsetting and costs involved must be agreed with Paula. Any losses, associated with a cancellation or a transferred date, will be retained from the booking fee and any other fees will be pursued. Paula’s service commences at the initial booking stage, any additional time or admin may be charged accordingly.

Full Payment

Full payment is required up to 14 days before the main event, failure to provide full payment will result in late payment fees. Paula may send a polite reminder prior to the payment date, however if the remaining payment is not paid in full this will result in your date not being secured, full payment received 14 days before the event confirms you wish to proceed.

Late Payment Fees

In accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 there will be a fee on all late payments. Interest shall automatically be applied at 8% over base rate (or such rate as is determined by statue, the latter prevailing), to all overdue sums from the first date on which they become due until they are paid in full.

Cancellations by Paula Durance

 Paula shall not be liable for any failure to carry out the booking where such failure is as result of Force Majeure/ Acts of Nature (including fire, flood, earthquake, storm or other natural disaster, pandemics such as or similar to the Covid-19), war, terrorism, death, illness or other incapacity certified by a qualified medical practitioner, epidemic, accident, civil commotion, order of Government or Local Authority having jurisdiction in the matter of changes in law. 

Any party asserting Force Majeure so as to negate liability shall have the burden of proving it and justifying that they took preventative action wherever possible to counteract the circumstances. If successfully proven then the cancellation fees outlined shall be unenforceable. It is strongly suggested that Brides take out Wedding Insurance to cover themselves if the cancellation of the wedding is unavoidable.

Although this has never occurred before, if Paula Durance is unable to make your wedding or occasion due to illness or injury she will endeavour to find a suitable replacement. Please note that this cannot be guaranteed. If this were to be the case Paula would provide you with a full refund less trial fee that has been carried out.

 Cancellations by You

You may cancel your booking at any time but may incur cancellation charges as follows:-

Over 14 days remaining fee: No Charge

14- 0 days: 100% of remaining fee. All fees must be paid on date shown on invoice

If you do cancel please provide as much notice as possible, if you incur a cancellation charge please pay this on the day you have cancelled the event booking.

Occasion and Party Makeup

During Peak Time (Half Terms and Summer holidays) dates are reserved for Brides only. If you wish to book for Party or Occasion makeup during peak times you may have to be put on a waiting list and be flexible around my schedule. If you book an occasion/ party makeup and it turns out you are the Bride or it is for an engagement then Paula reserves the right to withdraw from the booking or charge accordingly. Payment will be requested and paid before work is carried out. If after the work is done, Paula reserves the right to charge in lieu of services provided.

Paula will take on bookings of 2 or more occasion/ party make-ups, e.g 2 guests for a wedding. If 1 occasion/ party makeup is required e.g. 1 guest at a wedding with no Bridal service, an additional fee will be charged, as Paula does not generally provide this service.

Makeup Courses

Makeup courses are taught to the students that have paid the course fee, no spectators are allowed unless they would like to book on the course themselves, prior notice would be needed if this is the case in order to prepare the class. Paula Durance does not take any responsibility for the models that you wish to provide or for any products used during the session. 

Location of the Bookings

The following changes will occur with immediate effect: 

Some bookings will be required to take place at the Beauty Cabin this includes all treatments, trials and party bookings (subject to change if agreed beforehand). The Beauty Cabin is based in Leicester Forest East (West side of the M1).

If Paula Durance is not providing her service to clients at their home address or venues, clients must make their way to the purpose built Beauty Cabin in order for Paula Durance to maintain increased Health and Safety standards. 

  • Prior to arrival, if you are experiencing any symptoms such as a high temperature, cough or are generally feeling unwell please inform Paula Durance as soon as possible in order to reschedule, failure to inform Paula may result in the treatment being refused and charged. 

  • Upon Arrival please park your car, when safe send Paula a text whilst remaining in the car, Paula will then reply to your text when it is safe to enter the cabin

  • You must attend the appointment without any friends/ family/ or any other persons present. The Beauty Cabin is strictly for one client at a time. If anyone does accompany you they will be asked to wait in the car or outside. There is no waiting area. 

  • Before entering the Beauty Cabin you will be required to remove your shoes and sanitise your hands.

  • Your temperature will be checked using a clean thermometer on your forehead.

  • Personal belongings need to be kept at a minimum, e.g. No bags of any size. Your purse, phone, car keys will be placed in a clean zip-locked bag. Anything that does not fit in the zip-locked bag (the size of a sandwich bag) will need to be placed in the car. Paula Durance is not responsible for personal belongings. 

  • Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) will be provided and required to wear in order to complete the treatment, such as a hair cap, gloves, gown and mask (at certain points the mask may need to be removed for facials and application of makeup). However Paula Durance will have full PPE on at all times such as protective workwear, mask, visor and gloves. 

  • The treatment couch will have a clean, protective cover on it.

  • The Beauty Cabin will be thoroughly cleaned after every appointment, Paula Durance has completed a COVID-19 certificate in order to make sure that the Cabin adheres to Health and Safety. 

  • Any enquiries or concerns need to be sent via email to Paula Durance before the appointment commences. If you do not want the booking to take place at the Beauty Cabin and Paula does not receive an email in relation to the 'Location of the Booking', 2 weeks in advance of the booking date, this will confirm that you are in agreement with the new location of the booking at the Beauty Cabin. 

Travel

 Travel within a 10 mile radius of LE3 area is included in the booking cost. Travel outside this area will be charged at 45p per mile plus parking fees. Travel time over 30 minutes will be charged at £7.50 up to the hour and every half an hour after. 

Amendments of the venue or location will need to be discussed and agreed with Paula, additional charges may incur and payment required immediately. 

Any unexpected parking charges should be paid immediately on the day of the event, failure to do so will result in an invoice being sent for the outstanding amount plus administration charges (excludes parking penalties ).  

Paula also requests adequate parking at the location where she will be undertaking her makeup application.  Should parking be limited please let Paula know in advance so that this can be incorporated into your booking timings. If the venue is in a remote area, new build estate or is difficult to find please give clear instructions as all Sat Navs do not work the same. Failure to do so will impact directly on the time Paula will have available to do your makeup on the day.

 Unsociable Hours Charge 

 A charge of £25 will be added for any bookings before 7am.

Bookings that over an 8 hour period and/or require significant travel may also incur charges for accommodation. Offers of accommodation will be considered. This will be discussed and negotiated at the time of quotation.

 Timings

 Paula schedules timings prior to the wedding day or occasion and includes additional time to cover potential time lost and also allowing for her to unpack and pack her makeup kit. Clients must make sure that they and any other people on the booking are ready for the service to commence. This includes, hair away from the face, makeup removed, face cleansed, outfit on before if it is too tight (a dressing gown would be advised to protect garments), showered before application of makeup (NOT AFTER) and make sure there is a suitable area, with a table and chair, that has already been prepared ready for Paula to set-up her kit.

Paula does not offer make up touch ups free of charge for other guests not booked in for a make up service. Additional people wishing to have make up done on the day may only be scheduled if time permits and must be paid for in cash or immediate bank transfer. 

 If time runs out for whatever reason, including people not being punctual (by no fault of Paula) cancellation charge will apply as Paula is prepared to provide the service. If a client’s service and other people’s service on the booking are not fully completed due to their punctuality, Paula reserves the right to end the booking as per booking times. The time allocated is always sufficient with time to spare. If you are late this will be taken off your allocated time or if Paula is kept waiting a charge of £15 per 15 minutes will be chargeable and paid before the booking can commence, please bear in mind that there will be other clients booked following your appointment. Paula will wait for the full duration of your booking but will only have the time left in which to do any makeup required. This is to ensure other clients are not affected later in the day. 

Facial/ Aesthetic Treatments

Clients must complete a Treatment Enquiry Form to begin a skin consultation and fully complete all consent forms prior to booked treatment. An online/ face to face consultations are subject to a £30 Consultation Fee, the cost of the consultation can then be redeemed against listed treatments once a service is booked. Failure to not attend a booked consultation at an agreed date/ time/ location without cancelling within a 48 hour period will result in retaining the consultation fee. An invoice will be sent to the email address provided, a consultation will not be booked if payment is not received.

Facial/ aesthetic treatment courses and one-off treatments must be paid in full prior to the treatment. Payment is subject to a booking fee, if you decide to not follow through with the course or the treatment. Cancellations for facial/ aesthetic treatments only can be made up to 48 hours.

Clients must arrive on time, it is advisable to arrive 15 minutes early to give yourself plenty of time.

Photos of facial/ aesthetic treatments MUST be taken for client record purposes.  

Once a treatment is booked should and you cancel with less then 48 hours notice you will lose your treatment and the cost of your treatment due to the appointment time not being fulfilled by another potential customer which has an impact on business, therefore a cancellation charge applies. The booked treatment slot is not transferable e.g. If you have received treatments 1 and 2 but cancel with less than 48 hours notice for treatment 3 then you will lose treatment 3 and a cancellation charge will apply, your next slot will be treatment 4.

Rights & Responsibility

 Paula Durance reserves the right to cancel or increase the fee to a reasonable amount if the occasion to which she attends is not that which was booked (i.e. if the booking is for a party application and upon arrival it is for a bride). This also includes the right to increase fees depending on certain dates within the year and inflation.

Whilst Paula makes every attempt to ensure the products used for the trial, skincare treatments, skin preparation and during the booking contain nothing that will cause skin irritation, inflammation or any reaction, it is at the clients own risk if they use the products provided and Paula is not liable should any reactions occur. Clients must declare any known allergies, skin conditions and other contra-indications such as acne vulgaris, boils, eczema, herpes infections, impetigo, watery eyes (prevents application of false lashes), cold sores, eye infections, styes etc prior to the trial or booking. In addition any updates to health, medical information and treatments outside of your treatment sessions with Paula must be declared.

Unacceptable Behaviour

‘Unacceptable Behaviour’ means, dishonesty, violent or abusive conduct, racist, sexist or obscene behaviour or any other serious breach of rules including taking products, using products without permission, sabotaging or delaying the booking.

The client named on the booking and/ or invoice is held responsible for the behaviour of all people within the party including themselves, and for informing everyone of the contents of these Terms and Conditions as well as the agreement in place.

In the event of any person carrying out unacceptable behaviour (in the opinion of Paula or any other professional working with Paula) during or leading up to the booking, Paula has the right to terminate the agreement for that booking or may cease the performance of that service, even if they are not completed and clients will incur a cancellation charge, or fees maybe retained from the booking fee and any other fees will be pursued. In these circumstances and without prejudice to Paula’s rights, you must still pay the full price for the booking, and Paula will have no responsibility or liability for any losses or costs to you.

Lone Working Policy

Paula Durance has a lone working policy in place to ensure the safety and integrity of both Paula & her clients. In some cases it will be required to ensure that a member of the PD team or a client’s family member is present at a consultation, appointment or treatment. This will be discussed as part of the booking process and can be arranged to suit the requirements of both parties.


Photography and Videography 

Any photos or videos taken during the booking and at the event will be used for promotional purposes on Paula Durance’s social media and website which is accessible to the public. Personal photos shared or sent to Paula will also be used for this purpose. Photos of facial/ aesthetic treatments MUST be taken for client record purposes.

If you do not want your photos shared please contact Paula via email. If no email is received this means you agree to photos being used. Please ask for permission if you wish to take photos of Paula during the booking. 

Paula reserves the right to make allowances and changes to the terms & conditions in exceptional circumstances as deemed appropriate.

These Terms and Conditions for bookings and all other matters connected with the booking are governed by English Law, and any disputes will be settled in accordance with that law by a court in England.
